Calcohol is designed to work without accounts, servers, or third-party analytics. This policy explains what the app stores locally and how you can control it.
Calcohol stores the following information locally to calculate BAC estimates and display your history:
| Data | Purpose | Shared? |
|---|---|---|
| Weight, height, sex at birth | BAC estimation (Widmark model) | No |
| Drink entries (ABV, size, time, food status) | BAC timeline and statistics | No |
| Onboarding preferences | Disclaimer acceptance, tutorial completion, age confirmation | No |
This data is saved in the app’s private storage (SQLite database and standard iOS preferences). It is not accessible to other apps unless you explicitly back up or transfer your device using Apple’s systems (e.g., iCloud Backup or device-to-device transfer), which are governed by Apple’s privacy policies.
The Calcohol app itself does not transmit your profile or drink data over the internet. The app may open links you choose to visit (for example, the methodology page on this website) in Safari. Those pages are separate from the app and do not receive your drink history.
Calcohol does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The app uses SQLite.swift, an open-source library that runs entirely on your device to manage local storage.
Calcohol references alcohol consumption and provides estimated blood alcohol content. The app is intended only for people who are of legal drinking age in their country or region and who comply with all applicable local laws and regulations. On first launch, the app asks you to confirm that you meet this requirement before use. Calcohol may also carry an App Store age rating (such as 18+) that reflects its alcohol-related content; that rating is separate from the legal drinking age where you live.
You can remove all Calcohol data by deleting the app from your device. This removes the local database and app preferences. Uninstalling is the primary way to erase your data because nothing is stored on our servers.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
